Notable ForClassic Universal mummy atmosphere, Lon Chaney Jr. as Kharis
SeriesPart of Universal’s Mummy film series

In his quest for revenge Kharis, an ancient Egyptian mummy, will travel across the oceans to America, where along with his caretaker he will finally seek out vengeance on those that violated his sacred tomb years ago.

The Mummy’s Ghost is the second sequel to the original Mummy. Not much has changed with the vengeance crazed Kharis over the last few years, but at least in this one he gets to see some new scenery. Lon Chaney dons the gauze and dust in this one and does a fair job, but he still looks better under wolf make-up in my opinion.

Unlike Karloff, Chaney gets no dialog and a lot screen time. Also actors Dick Foran and Wallace Ford reprise their previous roles as Steve Banning and Babe Jenson from The Mummy’s Hand, the two are quite toned down and not as over the top as they were in the previous film.

Not only is Kharis out to kick these two’s asses he also gets the added bonus of a death curse being put on all of Banning’s family from here to eternity, which will keep him in fresh victims for a few years, but the Banning clan isn’t going to let Kharis have it his way without a fight!
