An alien’s spacecraft has crash landed on earth, while stranded, the creature begins to roam it’s wilderness surroundings looking for food. Nearby, three bank robbers are headed to these same woods to hide until the coast is clear. One thing they never thought was hunting them is waiting for them in the woods and now the real chase is on in Dweller.
The movie equivalent of the Predator’s retarded and deformed brother, written, directed and starring the Polina brothers themselves, Dweller is a pretty sad movie. The movie tries to be something more but it just isn’t going to happen. Bad writing and worse effects don’t give you much to go on in this one, but for a low budget film, the Polinas get as much bang for their buck as possible.
They try to give you some gore and special effects but everything looks bad. The spaceships are terrible and the Dweller himself is a laugh, you don’t even see him until the last two seconds of the film, so I know they didn’t blow all of their budget there. There are some cheap Predator like thermal scans and some black and white splatter scenes, like a lawn mower to the head and an intestine removal, but nothing worth rewinding for. The effects and cut scenes, like ones of a building exploding, will have you laughing more than gasping, and the fact that your main anti-heroes escape in a 4 door Ford Escort says something about your quality of film as well.
This one is pure drudge by the numbers and should only be viewed as a last ditch effort, because you just can’t find anything else.
