George Lucas in Love is a rock ’em, sock ’em mashup of Shakespeare in Love and the life of George Lucas.
It’s a short film about George Lucas’ life as a film student in California. This pre wealth George is rake, thin and nervous, still sporting the glasses and facial hair, and trying to finish a script for his final year.
What made this fan film so famous in 1999, is that it was made on a shoestring budget, yet it still looks very professional. The director and screenwriter, Joe Nussbaum, went on to become a professional director in Hollywood.
More than anything, the film is loved because of its obvious primordial references to the original Star Wars movie you can see the beginnings of Han Solo, R2D2, Darth Vader and all the other cronies, kicking it around George Lucas.
This was made in 1999. Why is it seeing a resurgence now? I dunno, probably because someone uploaded it to Google Video and it’s free to watch!George Lucas in Love
