Hot Fuzz is a police buddy comedy movie featuring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, directed by Edgar Wright.
Don’t know who they are? It’s pretty much the same team that delivered into us the movie known as Shaun of the Dead, which took audiences by storm with its premise ‘A romantic comedy with zombies’.
It looks like a brilliant movie, with that classic English style humour and renewed gun violence. I’ve been watching the comedy series, Spaced, which was Simon Pegg’s first major project, and I’ve fallen to the seductive powers of English comedy.
I don’t know what it is maybe it’s just that I’ve been inundated with American sitcoms, and the formulas are wearing thin in a typical NBC program, there’ll be some wisecracks, some sex jokes, and then a conflict which is neatly wrapped up in the last 5 minutes. Usually with a hug.
What’s great about English comedies is that their seasons only seem to last around 6 episodes with so few episodes in a season, the quality of the shows is quite remarkable.
And it is with great fervour that I anticipate the opening of Hott Fuzz in theatres, Valentine’s Day in the UK, April 13th in US, and 2015 in Australia, I’d wager.
