SHARKNADO: FEEDING FRENZY (2015)

What was Sci-Fi Channel thinking when they made Sharknado? As crazy as it seems, I watched a good bit of it and found it rather fascinating. The film had gone viral across various platforms. According to Sci-Fi, the online feeding frenzy peaked at 5,000 tweets per minute, and they smashed the network’s social media records. With 387,000 total tweets, the film came within 2,500 tweets of the Game of Thrones infamous ‘Red Wedding‘ episode. I had a great time browsing through the comments on Facebook and Twitter, they were so entertaining.

It goes without saying that this motion picture was produced on a shoestring budget. The acting was fair, and several of the people in this film will never achieve anything in Hollywood. The computer graphics were horrible. The sharks looked like they had been designed by a kid in grade 5. The shark attacks were so silly, they could easily prevented. Some idiots would just stand in front of the sharks and expect not to be eaten. Moreover, how is it possible for a shark to be sucked into a tornado and start flying around? Would the sharks be dead before they got the chance to attack?

Also, I love the idea of throwing a bomb into a tornado because why not?

Without being judgmental, it is glaringly pungent that does deserve an award. Would this film be guiding the forthcoming wave of Darwin award winners? Frankly, no one is going to expect that a sun will appear after bombing a tornado. You are more than likely to sight the sun upon judgment day where you are finally placed in heaven after god judges you. It ain’t common to observe torpedoes of sharks uniting for the purpose of harming human beings. It is obvious that Sci-Fi made an effort to make this movie as outrageously horrible as possible, and they have accomplished that.

In numerous scenes, people are witnessed retreating from the beach towards the sharks. Once the attack from the sharks commence, it is reasonable to presume that people would have swum well beyond the beach to safety. It doesn’t make sense why they are fighting among themselves for a prominent duration of 10 minutes like their life was not in danger at all. And yes, this is certain global warming is the scapegoat for this noble disaster. Other accusations went toward the administration too. Guess what?! The government does not have any right over the weather. And how does the Hollywood sign come apart so easily?

To summarize, this movie was stacked with awful scenes.

In a disaster situation I highly doubt there would be stunning blue skies alongside normal city scenes where traffic is flowing smoothly all while people are being feasted upon by sharks. If a movie is produced well enough you will never see that. How does the helicopter manage to stay in the eye of the tornado for so long without crashing? As well as at the nursing home, why is everyone outside when there are tornadoesx swirling around? It seems unrealistic to me.

With an average budget of $1.5 million dollars, you are able to achieve the stereotypical and cliched science fiction monster attack movie that will always be a hit with low self valued people and idiots alike. While there was a decent amount of buzz on social media, the ratings shocking weren’t great, average view count was around 1.4 million. Yes, Sharknado will get you a good amount of laughs, but I really, really do not want to set expectations high for those who expect an Oscar win. But then again, there’s the Razzies!
