Review
One of the things a viewer of movies like this and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon has to realize is that Chinese people really don’t fly, or believe people can fly it’s just like we don’t believe people don’t break into song spontaneously, but can still enjoy West Side Story. (Not that any of the Reel Movie Guys would admit to watching it, but that’s beside the point.)
It’s with this in mind that I say that House Of Flying Daggers is, sincerely, one of the most heartbreakingly gorgeous movies I’ve seen since, well, Hero. It’s got everything that a guy or a girl can want on the screen wicked kung-fu sequences, romance, and some derring do. I do have to warn you that this requires the viewer to pay a bit more attention than they would during an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond. There are subtitles, but you need to read more anyway.
