Review
This movie may deserve its own category it’s not really a “chick flick” as much as an “adolescent chick flick.” Written for 12-year olds (shockingly, considering the fact that pop princess Moore is on of the stars) who need every action and thought explained in detail, A Walk to Remember is difficult to forget in its boring, plodding story. I guess Moore is believable as the innocent, afflicted female half of a surprise relationship, but there is not a great deal of emotional attachment to either of the main roles.
As someone who actually read the book before seeing the movie (uhh, a really beautiful girl suggested it and it was really short and I read it on the beach next to said beautiful girl, ok??), it shouldn’t have been hard to predict the cinematic version. Sparks is a popular writer because of his straightforward prose.
His books are quick reads with an audience that includes the entire reading population. If you have a pair of eyes, you can follow his stories. So, in conclusion, those who can see will understand the movie, as well but anyone with male genitalia over the age of 12 may prefer an rectal scan for two hours over this.
