Short Summary

Review
The ultimate fight for survival is about to take place, as some mean-ass aliens descend on earth and blowing our country to smithereens. Leading the fight against these locust-like predators with cool technology are the U.S. President (Pullman), a fighter pilot (Smith) and a quirky cable guy (Goldblum) who used to be married to one of the President’s aides. Everyone freaks out, some people die and major panic results. Even our nukes won’t work on those bastards. Using an alien spacecraft of its own, captured decades ago and hidden within Area 51 in the Nevada desert, the U.S. devises a plan to overcome the aliens’ advantages.
Stupid as its premise may be, the special effects, plus decent performances from the three lead actors and other bit players would still make this worth sitting through once. The reason you shouldn’t is twofold. First, in order to take down the invaders’ shields, the cable guy simply uploads a virus into the mother ship’s central computer from his MacIntosh.
Just like that, no more shields! Woo-hoo! Now it’s on, you alien bitches! Millions of dollars are invested in making these movies, and this is the best that highly-paid writers can come up with. Second, there is enough overtly American patriotism in it to make even the proudest citizen cringe. G-Dubs and his cronies probably can’t wait for the 10 year anniversary of its release next summer.
