Review
This is the standard by which all others sports movies if not movies in general shall be judged. From the dramatic performance of a lifetime by Gene Hackman, to the inspirational score to, to the actual story line, Hoosiers delivers in every aspect of entertainment. It’s even based on a true story.
Even when you’ve seen the film multiple times, you always find yourself tearing up as tiny Milan High pulls upset after upset in the Indiana state basketball tournament. You’re pretty sure the team is gonna pull it out (why else would the movie have been made?), but you’re still on your feet with Jimmy Chitwood as he hoists the potential game winner at the end. You don’t need to be a basketball fan to enjoy these two hours you just need to be a fan of life. All viewers will be enraptured by this underdog tale and feel as though they are on the winning squad once the final credits roll.
