When convicted killer Jack Frost is being taken to his execution, the prison vehicle he is traveling in has an accident with a chemical truck. Sprayed by a molecular acid Frost’s body disintegrates into an oozing pulp in the snow covered ground. Thought dead, Frost returns a year later to get revenge on Sheriff Sam, the man who captured him, but Frost is not the man he used to be, because now he is a snowman!
This movie is so ridiculous that it works incredibly well. If you’re a fan of truly cheesy and campy horror then Jack Frost will surely delight you to the fullest. I have to admit that I had real bad feelings about this one beforehand, but I’m glad I gave it a chance. Jack Frost is a blast and more than once I found myself cheering on the frosty killer.
First, he looks terrible, I know he is supposed to be a snowman but tell me why at times he looks like a large cloth suit with visible seams? But the suit is just part of the appeal. Jack Delivers some great one liners as he works his way to the heroic Sheriff Sam. As he offs the townsfolk in his search for Sam, all of which have something to do with Christmas, snow, or something in that manner.
Also don’t expect Jack to be taken out with a flamethrower either, even in a melted water form old Jack is still lethal. Also while in his water form, Jack Frost provides a truly memorable kill that involves the tasty Shannon Elizabeth and a bathtub, very original and absurd. I never knew carrot noses could be used like that.
Jack only has one real weakness in his frosty state, but I won’t give away the exciting ending, but you have not seen anything until you see a group of people fight off a killer snowman with hair dryers. Jack can also make icicles and do a few other tricks, like drive a car, but the best is when he forms a row or two of razor sharp ice teeth and sinks them into an unfortunate victim.
