Review
This is not a chick flick because it is funny. I saw it in the theatre and laughed quite a bit. What makes it so funny, is writer actress Tina Fey’s (SNL) ability to connect with it’s intended audience (18-24 year olds) and portray the characters truthfully. The sharp dialogue and plot seems like it was taken right out of my memory of the social class dominated high school drama of my younger years. I remembered the bitchy cheerleader princesses, dumb jocks, horny band members and artsy freaks of my own past and saw them on the screen during this movie making it hilarious. My favorites are Damien the fat gay kid and Regina’s mother.
Unlike many other teen comedies, I feel like this was the first to show the true, darker side of teen friendship and what high school is really like not just hot chicks, all-star athletes and perfect families. While the ending is a little sappy, it wraps things up nicely. This is certainly one of the best SNL related movies to come out in quite some time.
And oh yea, the legal Lindsay Lohan is in it and let’s just say this is certainly her breakout role. She’s hot, wears tight clothes and can actually act which might be her most attractive quality
