Short Summary
The second part of Quentin Tarantino’s revenge saga about The Bride.
Review
Wow. The glorious mass of violence in the first is replaced with a true emotional throughline for The Bride, her name is revealed, and you get to see some wicked kung fu with Gordon Liu. Michael Madsen shows that he can act when he wants to and the final confrontation with David Carridine’s Bill is pitch-perfect.
If you’ve seen the first and thought it was all thrashing noise without a plot, it’s this half that serves as an actual movie for people like yourself. I rather admire Tarantino’s ability to make two completely different movies that manage to tell one coherent story while serving each part individually and I also think that people seriously underestimate his skills in regards to storytelling. It’s hip-hop, cut and paste filmmaking that takes its influences from a much different pool than most filmgoers have dipped into.
