Summary
A hit man attends his 10-year high school reunion and rekindles a romance with the date he stood up at the prom.
Review
First off, there’s Minnie Driver’s accent. Grrr, baby. Grrr. Then there’s the underrated Cusack, an enjoyable actor in all his roles. Combined this duo’s chemistry with the rather unique plot of a hit man attending his 10-year high school reunion and you’ve got an intelligent, humorous couple of hours.
The dry wit of Cusack is at its best here, especially when he trades barbs with his rival hired killer (Dan Akroyd). An older generation can also relate to the awkwardness of high school reunions, accentuated even more when your profession involves murder and your high school sweetheart is mad at you for standing her up and disappearing. It all makes for the backdrop of a witty, entertaining movie. The title will make a lot more sense, too, once you see it.
