When a large spacecraft in the form of a circus tent lands in the cow fields of a small rural farm community, you know things are going to go bad real quick. Inside the space traveling big top are clown like creatures who have only one thing on their minds, FOOD. And how does a space traveling clown get food you ask? Well they pitch up the tent and invite all the local rubes in for a little fun. They almost get away with their evil scheme until a couple of nosey kids and a police deputy go and try and save the country bumpkins from the Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
Brought to you from the brothers Chiodo (Stephen, Charles and Edward) comes one of the best B horror flicks of all time and a truly entertaining film.
The klowns hit earth and quickly begin wrapping up folks in a cotton candy cocoons to conveniently store them for the long ride home. Ya see, the klowns got a thirst for human blood that just can’t be quenched. All is going well for them until Mike and Debbie take a peak under the big top and find out what is really going on. Hooking up with a police friend of theirs, Deputy Hanson, the trio may be the only hope left.
Klowns is a blast, from shooting popcorn guns to the Mega-Klown ending, this film never takes itself too seriously and is a pretty fun ride. The effects are not too shabby and the Klowns all look good and there is even some campy violence to boot. Also John Vernon, Animal House’s Dean Wormer, plays one of the best dead pan assholes ever to grace a movie screen.
